New Leadership Appointments

At the October 10, 2022 School Board Meeting, the CCPS School Board unanimously approved the following leadership appointments:

Director of Special Education Mrs. Paulette Heron

Mrs. Paulette Heron has been named as Director of Special Education. Mrs. Heron has worked as an educator for 28 years serving as a general education and special education teacher, Behavior Specialist, Special Education Coordinator, and for the past two years as the Assistant Director for the Office of Student Support Services in Spotsylvania County.  

Mrs. Heron earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the University of Kentucky, her Master of Arts in Education from Bellarmine University, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.  

Mrs. Heron brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into the directorship. She is replacing Dr. Paige Carter and will begin this new role on October 31, 2022. Please join Caroline County Public Schools in welcoming Mrs. Heron to her new role as Director of Special Education.

 

Mrs. Karen Jackson has been named as the Preschool Operations Coordinator for Caroline County Public Schools.  Mrs. Jackson has over 20 years of early childhood education service in Caroline County with extensive experience in Head Start programs.  Passionate about preschool, during her tenure Mrs. Jackson has served as a mentor, master teacher and program operations clerk for Head Start.  

Mrs. Jackson is currently enrolled in Liberty University to obtain her Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification with aspirations of earning a Master’s degree in the future.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Karen Jackson as the Preschool Operations Coordinator for the CCPS Federal Programs Department. 

Dr. Thomas Connolly has been announced as Assistant Principal of Caroline High School.  Dr. Connolly joins the Cavaliers in his 17th year of education where he has served as a social studies teacher, Assessment and Analysis Specialist, Instructional Technology Coordinator and Assistant Principal in Louisa and Dinwiddie Counties.  Dr. Connolly is also an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University for the School of Education.  

Dr. Connolly earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters in the Art of Teaching degrees from James Madison University and his Post-Master’s Certificate in Administration and Supervision and Doctorate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.  

Dr. Connolly is replacing current assistant principal, Mrs. Jill Godard.  Please join Caroline County Public Schools in welcoming Dr. Connolly as he begins work at Caroline High School on October 20, 2022.
