Ms. Joyce Childs has worked for Caroline County Public Schools for 40 years, beginning her career at Caroline High School as a private contractor. Ms. Childs now serves as Lead Custodian for the school division supporting the work in all of our buildings.
Ms. Childs starts her day by 6:00 a.m. to make sure Lotus Academy and Transportation facilities are cleaned and ready to receive staff and students. On a daily basis, Joyce makes sure all buildings are staffed for opening and is quick to fill in when needs arise. She ensures all buildings are fully stocked with the items our custodial crews need to keep buildings safe and clean.
Joyce is well known for conducting nightly facility visits to support efficient and effective work completion. When absenteeism impacts a building, Ms. Childs can often be observed returning to the impacted school to share the workload. Beyond Joyce’s daily responsibilities, she is responsible for overseeing and facilitating professional learning opportunities for the custodial team.
Joyce’s admirable loyalty, dedication, and commitment to CCPS make her well known to our students, staff, and community. Her caring demeanor and strong work ethic make her a valuable asset to our school division! Leading by example, Ms. Child’s models commitment to excellence!
