- Wednesday, February 10, 2021 – Full Life Ahead – Region – 3 – 1 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.
Join the Fredericksburg Area Council on Transition for the third session of the 2020-2021 “Pathways to the Future” virtual series. Participants will access this session through Google Meet, and will receive the link upon registration.
Though this particular session is for parents, we encourage ALL families and special educators to join us as we introduce the Full Life Ahead workbook and guide to adult life for students with disabilities. This workbook was developed and written BY parents, FOR parents. Parents and guardians will be able to sign up at the end of the presentation for their own FREE copy of the workbook, a $25 value. It’s never too early to start planning for transition! Families of students with disabilities of ALL ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. ABLE-now will be our guest presenter. What is ABLEnow? An Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) account is a tax-advantaged savings account for individuals with disabilities, providing a new way to save, invest, and pay for qualified disability expenses without jeopardizing eligibility for certain means-tested benefit programs.
Thursday – February 18, 2021 – Family Partnership – 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. Last week we talked about Mindframes for Students – Mental Attitude, Habits, and Self-Regulation which all leads to Independence. Next, we’ll discuss Mindframes for Adults/Families – Ways to impact children’s learning, collaborate and understand the balancing act needed.
