The Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant is applicable to schools, public libraries, and nonprofit organizations that help students who are below grade level or having trouble reading. The awarded grant was used to purchase grade-level sets of books for teachers to use to help students build their vocabulary and comprehension skills as laid out through the Virginia Literacy Act. Through the grant, LCES was able to purchase 32 different titles of fiction and nonfiction books.
Thank you to our Reading Specialist, Brittany Kirby, for applying for this grant!
