WELCOME TO CAROLINE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

G-RISE STEM SUMMER INSTITUTE

Congratulations to CHS students Ms. Kori Black, Mr. Neyen Rivera Cortes, and Mr. Ezekiel Escobar for their successful completion of the G-Rise STEM Summer Institute. This unique opportunity was offered at Old Dominion University. During their week-long on campus stay, the students were immersed in a rigorous lab and research- based experience. This experience was provided to qualifying rising 6th -12th graders who express a desire to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

The program provides students with information and research experience in various fields of Bioenergy, materials engineering, and medicine in order to acquaint them with the requirements for pursuing a career in STEM. Students participated in engineering related classroom projects and blended materials engineering and medical research to solve real world problems. Students had the opportunity to visit local area firms to witness firsthand the work of engineers and scientists as well as to attend lectures by practicing engineers in various fields.
