The VDOE offers academic Summer Residential Governor’s Schools in the areas of humanities, medicine and health sciences; mathematics, science, and technology; or through mentorships in marine science, or engineering. Any student identified as gifted may apply for these programs.
In addition, the VDOE offers World Language Academies in the areas of Latin, French, Spanish, and German for students in at least their third year of study in the language (second for Latin). They also offer a Japanese Language Academy. Students do not have to have experience in Japanese to apply, but they do need to have at least two years of a foreign language completed this year.
Any student may apply for these programs as long as they meet the language requirement. If students are interested in any of these programs, Mrs. Kiger will host information sessions during Cav Block in the library on 11/25 & 11/26..
